About TurboCollector
The collector that makes the borehole work harder
TurboCollector® is MuoviTech's patented geothermal collector. Alternating fins on the inside of the pipe make the collector fluid turbulent at 22% lower flow rates than in a conventional collector, at a Reynolds number of about 1,800 instead of 2,300.
Turbulent flow carries more heat from the ground into the fluid. The heat pump gets warmer fluid, works more efficiently and uses less electricity, every year for the 50+ year lifetime of the collector.
- Up to 11%higher heat pump COP
- Up to 80%lower convective resistance
- Up to 600%more convective heat transfer (Chalmers)
- 32–55 mmsingle and double collectors
FAQ
What is TurboCollector?
TurboCollector is MuoviTech's patented geothermal collector with alternating fins that creates turbulent flow at 22% lower flow rates than conventional collectors. This gives up to 600% increase in convective heat transfer and improves heat pump COP by up to 11%.
How much can TurboCollector reduce electricity consumption?
TurboCollector reduces convective resistance by up to 80% and improves heat pump COP by up to 11%. Over 50+ years of collector lifetime, it continuously reduces electricity consumption, saving money and CO₂.
Why does turbulent flow matter?
Turbulent flow increases the heat transfer from the borehole to the collector fluid. TurboCollector reaches turbulent flow at a Reynolds number of about 1,800, compared with about 2,300 for conventional collectors, so the heat pump gets warmer fluid without higher pumping rates.
Does TurboCollector increase the pressure drop?
The pressure drop difference between TurboCollector and conventional laminar collectors is negligible for flow rates outside Reynolds numbers 1,800 to 2,300.
What dimensions is TurboCollector available in?
TurboCollector is available as single and double collectors in 32, 40, 45, 50 and 55 mm, in all relevant pressure classes. It is also available in MuoviTech's patent-pending elliptical design, MuoviEllipse.
Is TurboCollector certified?
Yes. TurboCollector comes with all relevant approvals depending on market, including P-marking and SKZ.
What do the Chalmers studies show?
Studies from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden show that TurboCollector delivers up to 600% increase in convective heat transfer, thanks to the alternating fins that create turbulent flow.
Where can I buy TurboCollector?
TurboCollector is sold through MuoviTech's local companies. Choose your country above to find product information and contact details for your market.
